How to write a perfect statement of purpose? part 3

7. Honesty.
Admission committees do not tolerate applicants who love to splurge. It would be better if you reflect a true state of affairs in your essay. At the same time, do not focus on shortcomings, although everybody is aware that they are present in your character. You have to be honest, but positive. Speak positively about yourself and your qualities. So-called “weaknesses” should be present in the following way: “It was my drawback in the past , but now it has become my positive quality.”

8. Literary writing.
Admission committees like to read easy-going, pleasurable essays. Make sure that your essay is easy to read. Do not rush to send it, give it a little more time. Check whether your thoughts are consistent, whether they lead to a logical conclusion.

9. Humor.
Humor is a great tool, but use it wisely. Sarcastic or audacious tone is often annoying. True humor is an art, a sign of good taste. Do not use it if you are not 100 percent confident that it will be appreciated.

To sum it up, I would like to say that in your statement of purpose, you tell a success story, indicate reasons why you want to build a career in chosen direction. You can go even further, writing statement of purpose as a literary work: story, narration. However, this is a risky approach, since most people are not very good writers. Finally, employers will not hire you only because you are a wonderful storyteller.
